Telecoms and Communications
The Communication Workers’ Union (CWU GH) is a leading trade union representing workers in Ghana’s telecommunications and communications sector. We support employees across mobile networks, internet services, broadband operations, customer support, technical services, call centres, infrastructure maintenance, and digital communication systems. Our members work in different areas of the industry, including network operations, engineering, installations, customer service, administration, IT support, sales, and field services that keep people and businesses connected every day.
What is a trade union?
A trade union is an organisation made up of workers who unite to support one another and collectively advocate for better working conditions and fair treatment in the workplace. CWU (GH) works to protect the rights and interests of telecom workers by campaigning for fair pay, safe working environments, equal opportunities, job security, better benefits, and improved terms and conditions of service. The union exists to ensure that workers’ voices are heard and respected while promoting dignity and fairness at work.
Why should I join CWU (GH)?
One of the major roles of CWU (GH) is to negotiate with employers on behalf of workers about issues affecting their jobs, welfare, and working conditions. Union members are more likely to benefit from stronger job protection, fair treatment, better salaries, improved leave and pension benefits, and safer workplaces.
Membership with CWU (GH) also provides workers with support, guidance, and representation in workplace matters such as grievances, disciplinary processes, and employment disputes. The union helps create a stronger and united workforce where members can confidently raise concerns and contribute to positive changes in the telecommunications industry.
By joining CWU (GH), you become part of a collective movement committed to solidarity, fairness, equality, and the protection of workers’ rights in Ghana’s telecoms and communications sector.
